Meet Shelley Puentes
Shelley is a marketing expert. She has been living in Mountain House with her family—establishing roots since 2004. Shelley is always looking to make connections and establish friendships with others in her community. A California girl, Shelley grew up in Alameda. She had her eye on real estate as her grandmother flipped homes. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Studies and Mass Communications at California State University, Hayward and went into finance, spending 6 years as a mortgage broker.
People say Shelley is an insightful Realtor®. She specializes in listings, though she does help her clients in the homebuying process and takes on buyers on request. She has a SOBO program, “Sell One Buy One” that she offers or can wait on her clients timing if they haven’t found the right home. Shelley has narrowed her focus down to San Joaquin County—mostly in Mountain House, Tracy, and Tracy Hills; and Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, focusing on the North Vasco area of Livermore. She is the Realtor® who helps clients sell and downsize, buy their last home or move into a rental or senior living community.
Shelley has the SRES® certification with seniors being her niche clientele. She loves being able to help clients consider what their next steps can be in listing a home that has been their family gathering place but may not be manageable with having two stories. Shelley aids clients by suggesting options for downsizing and finding their way through what can be some hard decisions to make.
They may be looking at their final home purchase or moving to a retirement community. Shelley is knowledgeable about ADA compliant new home builders, finding single story homes and holding the hands of her client when needed—whether it’s mom and dad or their kids dealing with the sale as an executor of the estate. Clients have turned to Shelley for her experience in probate and trust sales along with connections with liquidators and Mother Packers. And sometimes, Shelley will meet with the clients for a cup of coffee at the office—or the home—if they need advice over the multiple issues that may come up or for Docusigning.
Known in her Mountain House community for her energy, honesty, interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service, Shelley has considerable knowledge of the homebuying process. This is enhanced by 4 years as a profitable mortgage broker, along with finance manager experience in consumer loans, and underwriting experience. Her multifaceted expertise is what makes her such a force for her clients. She understands loans—for both her buyers and sellers—even their buyers, This is a win-win, benefitting all involved.
Shelley has a well-defined marketing action plan which she can detail for you if you’d like to set an appointment, but some of the key points that she offers is to help you determine how much your home would sell for—knowing about intelligent pricing timing, and how long it may take. She provides great advice on photos, and how they will enhance your sale by showing buyers’ potential—seeing themselves living in your home.
Shelley uses a professional photographer and provides 360 virtual tours, virtual staging if needed which provides the ability to digitally erase clutter for a clean model-home look, soft staging for occupied homes and voiceovers. She also has a professional copywriter to highlight the unique features of your home, social media manager and transaction coordinator. All of this goes into the marketing to make your home look and sound like a masterpiece. See what Shelley does for her clients.
Her career started in 1998 as a finance manager for Corporate Motors, coordinating financing of various commercial auto loans for individuals and company fleets. Shelley established insurance programs, handled documentation, and gained insight into industry compliances. Her aptitude with consumer math led to several roles as a mortgage broker and as a retail loan officer for Washington Mutual.
Shelley continued her education, attending the Mortgage Planning Institute with certified knowledge of real estate, economics, and mortgage fiscal literacy. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors and formerly served as board member and then secretary of the Women’s Council of Realtors. As a Loan Officer, Shelley was also certified with the Nehemiah Corporation of America, an organization promoting homeownership and economic development for underserved populations and communities.
Family is especially important to Shelley and she is happily married with two beautiful children. A longtime member of Southwinds Church, Shelley serves in multiple volunteer roles and as a 3rd grade Sunday school teacher. Through volunteerism and community involvement, she has created and managed several highly successful annual Mountain House community events. "We decided to sell my grandfather's home of 30 years after he passed away. We were nervous and sentimental about selling the home but knew it was time. Shelley was the perfect person for us - knowledgable, kind, and persistent. Shelley and her team made sure everything was taken care of (staging of the home, document retrieval, etc.) and kept us updated at every point along the way. We closed within 2 weeks and the process was as smooth and hassle free as possible. Thanks again Shelley!!!"
Hands down, Shelley Puentes at Intero. Organized, thorough, and motivating, she patiently guided us through the maze, took care of so many tasks and details for us, really lightened our load, and we sold for above asking $ and in under two weeks. We have her to thank. From what I understand, fees are negotiated, but are usually 2.5-3.0% for each agent (buyer and seller)
Earlier this year I decided to sell my home in Mountain House and retire out of the state. I had tried to sell my home about a year earlier but was unable to get close to the asking price, so I took it off the market and postponed by retirement.
After finally deciding to retire, I thought any reasonable price would be fine, as I did have a lot of equity. I researched the local Realtors and after talking to Shelley, I felt I should give her a try.
I took her advice, moved out allowing her to stage the house and manage the sell. After I moved, Shelley and her team cleaned the home, made minor repairs (at low cost to me), staged it, listed, and sold it. The house was listed on Thursday, she had an open house the next weekend, and it sold the next Thursday for MORE THAN ASKING. I only did what she instructed!!!!
I strongly recommend Shelley, if you want to sell your home!!!!
We appreciate your help and guidance more than you know! We will definitely be in touch.
Jen and Ryan
Dear Jennifer and Ryan, while I am disappointed that we are not moving forward now, I think the slow and steady approach make sense.
Please accept my gratitude for your continued support—it means the world to me. And if there’s anything I can ever do to help you, please don’t hesitate to call.

Shelley Puentes recently assisted me in the sale of one home and the purchase of another. I found her to be highly attentive to detail - she kept in constant contact with the other agents involved in the sale and the purchase, and always kept me updated on the status of both transactions. She also provided suggestions, referrals, and assistance, above and beyond that of any real estate agent I’ve dealt with in the past, that helped immensely in finalizing moving preparations.
If you are buying or selling, you can’t go wrong with Shelley!
